Dr. Peter Kim is the Deputy Director of the NIH Office of AIDS Research which oversees the $3 billion trans-NIH HIV research portfolio.

He previously served as the Deputy Director for the Therapeutic Research Program in the Division of AIDS (DAIDS), National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), where he oversaw a portfolio of grants and contracts related to the therapy and diagnosis of HIV and HIV-associated conditions. He also oversaw the safety and performance of clinical trials.

Dr. Kim is a founding member of the TB Drug Resistance Consortium; Chair of the Pediatric TB Research Team; and Advisory Board Member, TB Modeling and Analysis Consortium. As a volunteer physician, he provides clinical care for HIV and TB infected patients at the Montgomery County TB Clinic in Maryland.

Dr. Kim earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Maryland and his BA in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
